Darryl Bentley to Serve As New Associate Ministerial Director

The Michigan Conference Executive Committee appointed a new ministerial associate director on May 25 to a position left vacant after Pastor Wes Peppers accepted a call to the media ministry, It is Written. Pastor Darryl Bentley, the former pastor of the Metropolitan Seventh-day Adventist Church in Detroit, Michigan, will join Pastor Cody Francis who recently accepted the call to be Director of the Ministerial Department.

Bentley began his ministry employment as a literature evangelist for the Carolina Conference in the mid-1990s. He moved to Michigan in 2008 where he has served as pastor for the past 13 years. In that time span he ministered to the Midland, Mount Pleasant, Troy, Farmington, Edenville, Estey, Gladwin, Claire, and the Metropolitan churches. Bentley also served as District Superintendent for District 12 until his recent appointment.

He will begin his transition from Detroit to Lansing in the weeks following camp meeting. Bentley is excited to be of service to the pastoral field and their families, while partnering with the Michigan leadership to advance the cause of the Christ.

“It is very humbling to be called to serve in such a capacity,” said Bentley. “When I came into ministry, I never thought I would be called to our Ministerial Department. I just pray the Lord can use me and Ginger to be a blessing to our pastors and their families. I look forward to serving each of them as the Lord directs.”

Bentley received his Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry (MAPM) from the theological seminary in Berrien Springs. He also served as Chaplain Assistant in the United States Army and spent 12 months in Iraq. He enjoys flying airplanes in his free time and will soon be a licensed pilot. He also appreciates spending time listening to music and playing his guitar and cello.

Let us keep Elder Darryl Bentley and his wife Ginger in our prayers as they embark on this new ministry responsibility and service for the sake of Christ.
